However, its successors were ‘genuine’ articles, with extra suspension travel and off-road tires. It’s more of a well-modified street bike. Lacking off-road-rated tires and with only 3-4” of suspension travel, the Honda CL72 isn’t technically a scrambler motorcycle, Cycle World muses. And the friction steering damper was replaced with a hydraulic one, Rider reports. But in return, the bike also got a skid plate and a high-mount exhaust for extra ground clearance. And that gave Honda, which, like many Japanese motorcycle companies, was on the rise, an idea. However, even though a few companies like Triumph offered accessories to turn a street motorcycle into a scrambler, you couldn’t get one from the factory. But there were scrambler motorcycles, street bikes converted to work off-road via things like knobby tires and longer-travel suspension. And adventure bikes like the Africa Twin were almost two decades away. In the early 1960s, though, dirt bikes didn’t really exist, Cycle World explains. Today, if you want a street-legal dirt bike, you go get a dual-sport. But they aren’t the only classic Honda motorcycles that can freely transition between dirt and pavement. Case in point, vintage Honda Trails now often sell for more than a new Trail 125. And not just brand-new bikes, but their classic predecessors as well. The Honda CBR250RR also faces in-house competition from the CB250R and the CBR500R.Even if you’re not planning on running in the Paris-Dakar Enduro Rally, motorcycles that bridge the on- and off-road world are hugely popular these days. These include the KTM RC200, Yamaha YZF-R2F, and the Kawasaki Ninja 250. The Honda CBR250RR has a number of competitors in its segment. ![]() Other safety features include engine check warnings, pass switch, and side reflectors. The motorcycle is mounted on non-adjustable upside-down forks in the front, while the rear is equipped with a five-step preload adjustable monoshock. The Honda CBR250RR has hydraulic discs for braking, with two-channel antilock braking as standard. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with assist and slipper clutch. The bike is hauled by a 2-cylinder, 250cc engine which produces 41 Nm maximum power at 13,000 rpm and 25 Nm peak torque at 11,000 rpm. Honda has retained the 2021 powertrain of the CBR250RR for the 2022 model. The CBR250RR has a fully digital LCD instrument cluster. The bike comes with Road and Race riding modes and ride-by-wire technology. Other features include adjustable headlights, rear lights, and an engine check warning. The Honda CBR250RR has a diamond-type body frame with dual-stepped seats. The bike commands a price of RM 25,999, excluding road tax, insurance, and registration. It’s available in a single model in Malaysia. The Honda CBR250RR is a 2-seater sports bike. There are changes made to the cylinder head which has increased the compression ratio, and improved the power figures which are now 42 hp at 13,000 rpm and 25 Nm of torque at 11,000 rpm, as compared to the previous model’s 40 hp and 25 Nm of torque. The bike now looks sportier and sharper with a more sporty and aggressive design and stance. The 2023 CBR250RR has been updated both in terms of its appearance and powertrain. However, the motorcycle’s 2023 edition has arrived in the Indonesian market and is expected to arrive in Malaysia soon. The Honda CBR250RR has not yet been updated for the Malaysian market.
