Soundhack pitch delay12/16/2023 Also the sound of it when changing the delay time isn't that great IMHO. It sounds rather lo fi but not as gloriously gnarly like a BBD or PT 2399 based delay. However I sold mine because I didn't like it's sound. It has a great interface with attenuators for all CV inputs which will save you from using your precious VCAs or getting additional attenuators. Bought it when it was released and sold it within a year. I found that the Echophon did not come close to replicating the sound and vibe of the plugins. How, for so many years, we have never collectively thought we needed clockable rate inputs? It's some kinda Steve Jobs magic trick - don't give them what they know they want! Noooo! Give 'em what they don't know they want yet. I like my delay to have a feedback loop if possible and of course the clockable rate inputs. I've read bunch-a threads whereby people say that Echophon is a bit more suited to experimental sound design (that's cool btw). Did you end up keeping the Echophon? Would you buy it again if a werewolf stole it from your room at midnight during the full moon? I'd love to hear from people who have/had an Echophon and preferably some another good modular delay, and would like to share their experiences. He's loved by everyone but never available, that clockable brat! And the v2 on the horizon is super expensive, they know suckers like you and me will pay for it anyway mwahahaha!Īnd then there's Tapo delay, and the Rainmaker - presumably named after the act of emptying your entire wallet off your hard-earned dollares and "making it rain" for the guy in the modular music store. Where is crowds' favourite little Amadeus? Oh, he's hiding behind the table delaying his show (see what I did there). I like both what I hear from 4ms DLD (although it sounds quite clinical when you turn that delay rate knob.no funny tape warble, I know some like it that way) and of course there's everyone's favourite blobby-boy Chronoblob, which is never available btw! A bit like Mozart in the movie Amadeus. What about its weird pitch-shifting algorithm? Is it still useful if you're recording anything other than a soundtrack to 70s science programs for BBC and CBS? So.it seems like I should get an Echophon right? 2nd hand - less than 300 euro/dollares, what's not to like, heh? I feel deep down ready to buy my first proper eurorack delay (Disting mk4 one is ace but I'd like to free it up from the delay duties for other equally important things).Īnd I luuuurv SoundHack pitch-shifter/delay plugins. Now, most of my delays are either stompboxes or plugins. Not another thread about delays and the Echophon.but but.
